About Me
As someone with a visual impairment, I bring a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities in assistive technology. My passion for leveraging AI to solve everyday problems and enhance accessibility is deeply rooted in my personal experiences. As a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing at the University of Georgia, I bring both academic expertise and personal experience to the field of assistive technology. My research and teaching focus on the intersection of AI, accessibility, and computer science, allowing me to contribute meaningful insights to this blog.
I am also the creator of Grafstate, an innovative software platform that has become an invaluable tool for both students and educators. Grafstate empowers users to explore and visualize complex mathematical structures while receiving real-time feedback on their work. This project exemplifies how assistive technology can benefit not only those with disabilities but also enhance learning experiences for all students.

You’ll find detailed, step-by-step tutorials on using freely available tools and models, empowering you to implement your own assistive technology solutions.
Share Personal Experiences: I regularly experiment with AI to address everyday challenges using language interfaces and automation. These experiments are shared as detailed use cases, offering practical insights and inspiration for your own projects.
What Makes This Blog Unique
While many focus on the broader implications of AI on society and the economy, this blog concentrates on accessibility and assistive technology. By exploring how AI can improve the lives of people with disabilities, we aim to fill a crucial gap in the current AI discourse.
Leveraging AI in My Work
As an expert in assistive computing with AI, I actively explore and implement AI technologies to enhance my workflow and to demonstrate practical applications. To address my visual impairment, I use AI-powered tools to generate descriptive cover art for my articles, ensuring they are visually appealing and informative. Additionally, AI assists me in organizing and proofreading lengthy drafts, helping to overcome challenges associated with sight impairment and ensuring clarity and coherence in my writing.
It is important to note that while AI plays a supportive role in my work, all content on this blog is the product of my own expertise, research, and analysis. AI serves as a valuable tool that augments my capabilities, allowing me to share my knowledge and insights in the field of assistive computing more effectively. This approach allows me to produce high-quality content while showcasing real-world examples. It demonstrates how AI can enhance accessibility and productivity for individuals with disabilities.
